8 Technology's Up and Coming

There is a new technological advancement being released on a daily basis. Many of these advancements are being incorporated into classrooms on a yearly basis. For some older teachers, it may seem like a burden, but for us digital natives these advancements are wonderful. One technology advancement that stood out to me was the electronic paper. Teachers print out tons and tons of handouts for students throughout the year. If each student was to have electronic paper, the schools printing and ink budget would decrease drastically. Also, instead of using Ipads which is a common device in schools nowadays, this paper is much more cost effective. Electronic paper is bendable and compact to fit the lifestyles of younger students. I would definitely recommend this advancement to any schools.

Becoming a teacher means experiencing teaching through a new perspective. I will need to be aware when children are struggling with a concept or assignment. For many, this takes some getting used to. Biometrics is a future technology that will shape the way classrooms are run. It is able to monitor each individual student’s facial expression, heart rate, skin moisture, and body odor to give a detailed report on the child’s understanding and performance. This will help the teacher to figure out which teaching methods work best for different types of students.Biometrics

The digital divide is the gap between people who do and do not have a computer at home or access to one. I am on the side of having access to a computer at all times. All throughout my life I have had a computer. My father was an IT worker and always knew and had the latest and greatest. I grew up knowing how to use different software on computers and how to navigate. I believe computers are a wonderful thing and should be incorporated into classrooms everyday. In order to keep everything fair in my classroom I will take a poll in the beginning of the year to see eho does and does not have access to a computer. If access is a problem during an assignment, which utilizes the computer, I will make sure everyone has the ability to use the schools computers. Students on the other side of the digital divide will be less knowledgeable when using a computer, but will be able to start out with basic skills.

  1. Out of the blogs I've read, about 90% of y'all have mentioned smart paper. OMgoodness. I want to see it! Here is a personal situation: I teach this class and I am sponsor of the Robotics club in a local middle school. Neither of which provide paper or even encourages copying of any sort. So how the heck is this teacher going to do what I would usually do? Have you noticed our reliance on Google Drive? Yes, its educational... and I can't figure out a better way. I want to try these electronic papers! Maybe if we all request the tech sandbox...
